This is the development and distribution page for the
Five Points software project.
Five Points software project.
The software is currently focused on supporting the development and deployment of online utilities for carfree mobility -- walking, cycling, and mass transit. Five Points is a fully open-source project licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Work on the project began in 2004, and the first major deployment of the software, Atlanta's A-TRAIN, was launched in Fall 2007. Efforts are currently underway to expand the project to other cities.
The name "Five Points" refers to the historical hub of transit (first streetcars; now MARTA trains and buses) in Atlanta, with the hope being that the Five Points software will assist in the creation of an online hub for transit information and advocacy.
